We passionately believe that children should be given the very best start when they join school in Reception year.
We are delighted therefore that recent Year One Phonics screening performance was exceptional at Holne Chase (90%), evidencing happy, confident early readers all round. These excellent results put the school at the top of the Phonics tables, well ahead of the 80% UK average in 2024.
We are rightly celebrating this achievement; proud of the children who worked so incredibly hard to reach this milestone, of their families and carers, and of course the brilliant teaching staff who made it happen.
Hot on the heels of brilliant Year One phonics news, our Key Stage Two attainment is exceptional at Holne Chase too achieving our highest results ever in 2025. The level of children achieving the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths is well above the National average meaning our children have an exceptional start to their secondary education.
The level of ‘Good Development’ is the key indicator for Early Years. The table below shows the percentage of children at Holne Chase achieving a ‘Good Level of Development’.

In June, the Year 1 children complete the Phonics Screening Check (PSC), in which children are assessed on their ability to use their phonics knowledge to read a combination of 40 real and made up words. The table below show the percentage of children passing the Phonics Screening Check with a score of 32 or more out of 40.
