AMBITION

At Holne Chase we believe PSHE is a fundamental part of every child’s education in order for them to become confident, happy, responsible citizens in an increasingly complex world. Our ambition is to equip children with the necessary knowledge and skills to make informed choices about their wellbeing, health and relationships enabling them to manage the challenges and opportunities of modern Britain.

Our aim is to ensure that as our children move on to Secondary School, they feel confident that they have the knowledge, understanding and emotional intelligence to contribute positively in today’s diverse and ever-changing society. We want our pupils to be confident decision makers, informed risk takers and effective communicators. We encourage the exploration of and respect for, the values held by different groups and cultures within our local community, and beyond. We aim to equip our children with an awareness of their own health and well-being (both physical and emotional), and encourage positive self-regulation strategies. Our children should leave Holne Chase as resilient, polite, and well-rounded young people who are secure in the knowledge that we learn as much from our successes as we do our failures and that anything is possible when we set our mind to it.

IMPLEMENTATION

At Holne Chase, the Relationships Education supports children by providing them with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their well-being, health and relationships. The curriculum enables them to build positive and safe relationships with family and friends online. Also included within this curriculum area is the opportunity to learn about equality and diversity, using appropriate language. By the time children finish primary school, they will have been taught about family and relationships including:

  • Family and people who care for them
  • Caring friendships
  • Respectful relationships
  • Online relationships
  • Being safe

As part of the RPHSE curriculum children also learn about:

  • Safety & the Changing Body
  • Economic Wellbeing
  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Citizenship
IMPACT

Our children have an understanding of their emotional literacy, are able to build resilience and nurture mental and physical health. Children are well equipped to understand and make a positive impact in a diverse world full of exciting opportunities while confidently negotiating challenges and risks both on and offline. They leave Holne Chase as effective global citizens with an understanding of themselves and the world around them knowing how to make positive contributions to their community whilst developing aspirations for their future.
